Singapore Through the Eyes of a Filipino Teenager

An Art Installation

Singapore Through the Eyes of a Filipino Teenager was my first ever large-scale installation, consisting of more than 12 life-sized wooden standees, each cut and painted by hand.

The artwork was inspired by people from all walks of life—youths, families, fellow classmates and dear friends among others—who have made an impression on me as I started living in Singapore for the first time.

Backed against a painted mural of cloudy skies, the composition and placement of the standees are meant to depict the Singapore’s urban skyline, a metaphor that this bustling city-state is made up of its warm, genuine people.
